Chapter Leadership
Christina Guillén, MD, FAAP
Chapter Co-Chair
Dr. Christina Guillén serves as the Co-Chair of the New York Chapter of the NHMA. She is the Interim Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and a Clinical Associate Professor at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University.
Dr. Guillén received her medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, where she completed her Pediatric residency and served as Pediatric Chief Resident. She currently serves as the Pediatric Community Advocacy Division Director and the GME Associate Designated Institutional Official (ADIO) for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
She previously held roles as Pediatric Residency Program Director and Vice Chair of Education. A SUNY Hispanic Leadership Institute Fellow, she brings local insight and national leadership to academic medicine and community health.
A second-generation Dominican American, Dr. Guillén understands the deep importance of language, culture and shared identity in delivering equitable care — values that guide her lifelong service to Brooklyn’s diverse communities.
Judith Flores, MD, FAAP, CHCQM
Chapter Co-Chair
Dr. Judith Flores is a board-certified pediatrician and executive health leader with more than 30 years of experience in public, voluntary and community health care. A proud New York Puerto Rican raised in Central Harlem, she earned her B.S. in Biology from Fordham University and her M.D. from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
She completed her residency in Pediatrics and Community Medicine at Montefiore’s Residency Program in Social Medicine. She is board-certified in both Pediatrics and Health Care Quality and Management and is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine.
Her distinguished career blends clinical practice, executive leadership and advocacy — with a focus on health equity, population health and health literacy. She continues to mentor health professionals, teach at the undergraduate level and provide community-based care.
Dr. Flores is also the creator and host of Unsettled Health, a podcast dedicated to exploring health equity, literacy and advocacy through informed and compassionate dialogue.
