COVID-19 Update and NHMA Call to Action

COVID-19

The coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting various vulnerable populations including the elderly and those with chronic disease. The Trump administration and Congress are focused on efforts to decrease the impact of the disease with education, testing and social distancing to decrease transmission.  Congress is currently developing legislation for relief for health care facilities, businesses, public health departments, States and territories, and individuals to decrease the impact of this pandemic on our health and mental health and rising unemployment, which we have not seen since the Great Depression of the 1930’s.

NHMA recommends you visit the CDC COVID-19 website for updates and information on how to avoid in becoming sick and what to do when you become sick: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html.

The CDC has also released guidance and resources for healthcare professionals. Please visit: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/index.html.

For CDC information and resources in Spanish, please visit:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index-sp.html.

If anyone has a fever, dry cough, and shortness of breath, please visit your doctor – you may be infected with the COVID-19.

NHMA encourages you to follow social distancing policies being set by federal, state, and local governments to mitigate the disease.
