Consensus Summit on Building Diversity in Medicine and Research Report

As a part of an ongoing commitment to promote health care equity and quality, the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) convened a meeting of national experts to the Consensus Summit on Building Diversity in Medicine and Research, on January 29, 2015 at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.  National leaders for underrepresented populations in science and medicine discussed their best ideas and practices for improving representation; established recommendations, and formulated a direction and consensus statements, with the aim to build diversity in medicine and research in the U.S. not sure about the wording:  Link here to the Summit Final Report.

Advancing Hispanic Health: the Next 20 Years - NHMA and HDA Leading the Way

Join the NHMA  & HDA network of physicians, dentists, health care professionals, government and private sector partners from across the nation and learn new strategies for effective health care and policies to improve the health of Hispanic populations.   


In 2016, NHMA and the Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) will host a joint national conference, bringing together experts from across the nation to share their multi-disciplinary experiences in improving health care delivery for Hispanic populations.  National, international, and local health care experts will present on current innovations in medical homes, accountable care organizations, medical education training, research, prevention, behavioral health, integrated care, e-health, and cultural competence for the growing Hispanic populations in the U.S. Disease areas include infectious disease, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, cancer and others. CE/CME credits to be provided.

We invite all health professionals and students to submit a Speaker Abstract or a Hispanic Health Research or Community Service Poster Application for the NHMA sessions of the Joint Conference. We also invite government agencies and corporate community relations to consider becoming a Sponsor.
