NHMA established it's Foundation, a 501c3 organization, in 1994 as the National Hispanic Medical Foundation to develop educational and research activities. In 2000, the name was changed to the National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF). In 2005, NHHF was affiliated and located at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University.
The major programs of NHHF were started with support from the Office of Minority Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including activities focused on Education, Research, Training, and Information Dissemination.
NHHF has a Corporate Advisory Council consisting of the major partners who have supported both NHMA and its Foundation. This year, NHHF will plan for future expansion of community-based preparatory research in Hispanic communities and the National Hispanic Health Professions Students Scholarship Fund and Gala Dinners in New York City and in Santa Monica, California.
